Lava Pebbles: Eruption I and II were inspired by the artist's love for the Pacific Ocean and Black Sands Beach in Northern California, hence, the Ocean Things series.  Rendered in graphite, black and colored charcoal on pastel paper, the novel layering of torn and crumpled paper gives these pieces a fantastic 3D aspect.
